Innovate Well at the Lost Gardens of Heligan
One of the many perks of working with the Includiverse is the frequent opportunity to travel. The past six months has seen Managing Director Gareth Allen and Head of Tech Joel Hodges travel to Cardiff for the Fulldome UK festival, to Newcastle to perform user testing events, and even as far as Austin, Texas when Gareth Allen attended the mega-festival SXSW. Occasionally the entire team get to shoot off together, just like the Innovate Well event held at the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Using technology as a force for good is something particularly close to our hearts here at the Includiverse, therefore events like these are perfect for us to attend. To share the room with others that have used their innovation to improve lives is always a privilege, and it is especially rewarding to see the familiar faces across multiple events - there is a community of us here in the South West. Once again, our Smart Glasses accessible solution was a big hit with the attendees, and we also had the opportunity to cross over to the other side by trying out other technology in the room, such as such as Justin Wiggan with Echo Point - a sound technology designed for calming anxiety on the go.
A short walk on a beautiful day took us to a bench which had the technology installed - a guided meditation accompanied by three recurring sounds. Each box plays a different set of sounds, however the one we tried included nature-based sounds. The exercise lasted five minutes however was replayed a number of times thanks to the successful calming effect it had on us. One person commented they could have listened to it all day - had we not had a delicious lunch and a panel session scheduled afterwards.
Generously catered by the organisers of the event, we attended the panel full and energised, which turned out to be just as well as Production Assistant Ceri jumped in at the last minute to speak on the panel - something she had never done before, rising to the challenge.
Overall the event was a great success and as Ceri’s last official day with the Includiverse, a lovely way to round off the experience. The bag of pot noodles and nik-naks certainly didn’t go amiss either! Check out our Youtube channel for further information, including an interview with one of the organisers of this incredible event. Big thanks to all involved!
